Funky Feet….

Today we were back to the NDT training sessions…and there was lots of work going on with my feet, as they are very funky(getting badly deformed, especially the left foot)….and this is how awesome and straight the physio got my feet ♥

    This was after our first NDT session a week ago…
    last september I was asked by one of Veronika’s therapist if Veronika could be a case study for Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) training that is taking place in Hobart. Its a couse for allied health therapists to devolop further skills in there field, and the therapist are from all over Australia. The people running the course are from America…. I asked what was involved, and the reply was could I take Veronika if for 3-4 weeks, multiple times a week for therapy….obviously my answer without a doubt was YES….why would I not want therapy for Veronika. Last thursday we went and met the therapists who would be working with Veronika for the next 3 weeks, and this afternoon we had a session. Therapists B and K will be working with Veronika 3 afternoons a week for 3 weeks, and I’m so excited to see what they have in store for my Princess.

    Today there was lots of therapy involving lots of play, the highlight for me was ‘shopping role play’. Veronika had a toy shopping trolley, and a purse with play money in it..Veronika had to go up to the ‘shop’ and choose what to buy and then pay by opening the purse and get out the coins(using both hands which she found challenging) etc, then put shopping in trolley, do a lap walking(fully supported by Physio so she didn’t fall), then do it again. It was just so beautiful to see Veronika so engaged with the therapists, and to see her so excited to go ‘shopping’, but the highlight was to see her trying her hardest to walk along behind the little play shopping trolley(it was really light and kept getting away from Veronika), she needed heaps of support from the phsyio, but what was really interesting was Veronika was directing the physio where to put her hands to support Veronika, the phsyio said it was so interesting to see Veronika not only knew she needed support from her, but that she had figured out where she wanted the physio to support her….incredible really and actually quite clever on Veronika’s behalf if I do say so myself ♥
