18th June 2015…a reflection on the weeks since surgery

It’s been 9 long weeks since Veronika’s hip reconstruction…..9 weeks of challenges, complications, frustrations, exhaustion,
moving Veronika to help minimise the pressure on her wound and prevent more skin breakdown, and very minimal broken sleep.

9 weeks of watching my baby amazingly tolerate all the surgeon, doctors and therapist throw her way. Some days seeing her in so much pain shes vomited. Other days surprised by how amazingly resilient Veronika is.

9 weeks in a spica(plaster), 4ish more to go.

9 weeks of hoping and praying the right decision was made to go ahead with her surgery….9 weeks of BELIEVING Veronika Will Walk again.

Flipping through photos on my phone tonight I came across the last video I took of Veronika walking before her surgery, it’s bitter sweet. Watching her walk after we were told she would never walk after her 1st MRI when she was a week old, a miracle to see her walking, but on the flip side I watch and hope we made the right decision for her hip reconstruction, when there is a ‘realistic chance Veronika won’t walk again after surgery’

It’s been 9 weeks since I’ve seen my baby walk, I BELIEVE Veronika will walk again. I have to.
